Program Description
The three-year undergraduate program requires the completion of 180 ECTS. By passing all exams and fulfilling program-specific obligations, students complete the first phase of the study and earn the title: Bachelor of Applied Arts.
The acquired knowledge, competencies, and skills enable graduates to engage in activities where these competencies and skills are required: in cultural and creative industries, specific branches of tourism, entrepreneurship, electronic media, or they can work as independent artists.
Knowledge in art history and contemporary art practices, as well as specific insights into the philosophy of art, are developed continuously throughout all three years of study. Art theory subjects are primarily concentrated in the first two years of study.
Learning outcomes in the first year are focused on fundamental knowledge and skills in drawing, sculpture, painting, and printmaking. In the second year, the acquired knowledge is deepened and linked with other theoretical and practical subjects. In the third year, students have the opportunity to choose from a wide range of courses (ceramics, glasswork, mosaics, web design, video production, set design, costume design, etc). They also have the opportunity to attend courses offered at the other University of Rijeka faculties.
Students can select the Sculpture Module, the Painting Module, or the Applied Printmaking Module.
The subjects in each module is designed to span one semester, which gives students greater flexibility to take other courses within the institution, or participate in shorter studies abroad.
Upon completion of the undergraduate level, students have the option to pursue further studies at the graduate level, either in Applied Arts, Visual Communication and Graphic Design, or Art Education.
The study program in Applied Arts requires the completion of 180 ECTS credits and lasts 3 years (6 semesters).
