Program Description

The undergraduate program Graphic Design and Visual Communications spans three years and requires the completion of 180 ECTS. By passing all exams and fulfilling the program-specific obligations, the student completes the first phase of study and earns the title: Bachelor of Graphic Design and Visual Communications.

During this study, students are introduced to the fundamentals of the design industry. Through a series of exercises and projects, participants learn about graphic symbolism, visual branding, and the art of designing books and brochures. Finally, the program encourages critical thinking and self-reflection, which is essential for creating impactful visual communication.  

Upon graduating, individuals with a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design and Visual Communications possess the expertise and competencies to work in graphic design studios, marketing agencies, cultural institutions, electronic media, and beyond. Additionally, they have the option to start their own business.

The program also includes theoretical contents from the humanistic field – art history, contemporary and recent art, as well as the history, theory and methodology of graphic design. These subjects are integrated throughout the entire duration of the program.

In the initial year of study, the focus is on acquiring foundational knowledge and skills in drawing, sculpture, painting, printmaking, photography, and typography. Additionally, students delve into the fundamentals of visual communication, exploring concepts such as semantics and stylization. In the second year of the program, students deepen their acquired knowledge and skills. They also learn to develop visual identity of products and gain familiarity with the fundamentals of web design. In the final year of the program, students further enhance their knowledge by focusing on advanced topics such as branding and the creation of complex systems for information design and signaling.

The acquired artistic competences can be expanded by choosing from a wide range of elective courses (ceramics, glass, mosaic, scenography, etc.), as well as by enrolling in one of the elective courses from the joint university offer.Each subject is designed to span one semester, which gives students greater flexibility to take other courses within the institution, or participate in shorter studies abroad.

After completing the undergraduate study, students have the opportunity to pursue further studies at an advanced level.
