Within the Center for Innovative Media there will be a talk with the artist Ivana Franke regarding the workshop organised for the installation the "Knowledge of Fireflies". This work will be displayed at the Glowing Globe exhibition this year at the Kortil Gallery (November 13-23), with the participation of students, graduates and alumni of the Academy of Applied Arts in Rijeka.
The interview will be joined by her collaborator Petterij Nisunen, with whom she is preparing the 'Time Slip' & 'Imminence' project for the MMSU Rijeka.
Born in Zagreb, Ivana Franke lives and works in Berlin today. Her artistic practice is characterised by a transdisciplinary approach and in particular collaboration with scientists in the fields of neuroscience, mathematics and physics. Her creations in the sphere of light research focus on perceptual thresholds.
Many solo exhibitions include the Schering Stiftung in Berlin, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb, the Shanghai Biennale, the Deutsche Guggenheim Berlin. At the 52nd Venice Biennale she represented Croatia with a solo exhibition Latency (2007), and at the 9th Venice Biennale of Architecture with the collaborative work Frameworks (2004). (2001).
