What is mosaic?
Mosaic is a technique of decorating walls, floors, vaults, and domes with ornamental or figurative compositions. Mosaics are also used to create icons, jewelry, and ritual masks. In the technique of mosaic, both figurative and elaborate ornamental compositions are executed according to a pre-designed or painted pattern (cartoon). In contemporary art, mosaic can be thought of in an expanded sense as a series of any smaller elements that form a larger whole.
The endless possibilities of arrangement and shaping are what make mosaic unique. If you discover beauty in creative combinations and the unlimited forms that can arise from them, then mosaic is your painting technique.
What knowledge will I gain?
Na preddiplomskoj razini upoznat ćeš se s primjenom tehnike mozaika u prostoru, kao i s klasičnim tehnologijama mozaika uz rad po zadanoj reprodukciji. Naučit ćeš stvarati kompozicije sastavljene od raznih materijala – kockice kamena, glazirane keramike, staklene paste i sl., te kako ih pravilno obraditi da bi tvoj mozaik ostao čvrstim i trajnim djelom. Na diplomskoj razini, uz izvođenje različitih tehnoloških postupaka na pojedinom zadatku, poticat ćemo te na slobodnu interpretaciju rada na mozaiku kao samostalnoj likovnoj disciplini.

Resources and working atmosphere?
Classes are held in a fully equipped mosaic workshop. Work is done in small groups, in a creative and relaxed atmosphere, respecting the individuality of each student.
